BIG ELVIS/Barbary Coast
I've never seen Pete Vallee as BIG ELVIS...quite the BIG family/friends
affair. Pete is obese and can hardly walk. He moves maybe 10 feet from
off stage to a 4x4 and 2x4 wood thrown where he sits, sings, and only
stands briefly for a bit of ELVIS lip twitching and sholder gyrations after
some of the songs.
His support team is a bit odd also...An older lady moves through the
crowd taking song requests, an 'Austin Powers' charactor runs a video
camera which could very possibily capture BIG ELVIS dropping dead on
stage someday soon from a massive heart attack...Pete better loose
some weight or he's gonna die. Video screens above the stage play
home movies of 'BIG' during a visit to 'Graceland'. Austin Powers also leads
the audience in a round of Hermins Hermits 'Mrs. Brown You've Got A
Lovely Daughter' (one of the highlights of the 3PM Show for me!)
Then, theres 'Miss. Goldie'. Miss Goldie is 110 years old, uses a walker,
and gets up during one song...wiggels her one good arm, and occasionally
lifts her one good leg in an effort to wrap around her dance partner Austin,
in a feeble attempt to 'hump' his one good leg...it's sad folks, real sad LOL!
Audience members volunteer for a couple gags on stage and free give aways.
(there really isn't a stage) BIG ELVIS has his own corner or the Bar to
do his 'thang'. The area fills up early with table and chair seating and
standing room all around really fills up...BIG ELVIS IS VERY POPULAR!
Pete cues Mr.? off stage to start each song, then sings Karaoke style.
He does 2, 1hr. FREE Shows an afternoon, but it's a good idea before you
go over to Barbary Coast to call first and see if he's performing: 737.7111
His weight and health issues have caused him to cancel Shows lately.
BIG ELVIS is an odd Show, yet strangely entertaining....................sorta.
