FIERSTEIN'S FAREWELL

After a fond sendoff, Harvey Fierstein headed into the sunrise Monday, on a 6 a.m. New York-bound jet.

The Broadway icon and sidekick Dick Latessa ended their three-month run in "Hairspray" Sunday at the Luxor.

Before the final bows, Fierstein picked up the dinner tab for his entire cast and crew at the Luxor's Isis and Sacred Sea restaurants.

Fierstein and Latessa left with a boatload of keepsakes, including a framed Luxor towel and engraved pyramid-shaped clocks.

Fierstein graciously added that with Paul Vogt of "Mad TV" fame replacing him and Eddie Mekka of "Laverne and Shirley" in Latessa's role, the "Hairspray" family "finally found the perfect cast."

I really enjoyed HAIRSPRAY on my last trip! (I liked AVENUE Q better)
but HAIRSPRAY has a good cast, it's all live...no pre recorded music and
the stage sets are good.
'misterKeno' I'm surprised you didn't notice the advertising all over
the LUXOR, not to mention, the GIANT HAIRSPRAY drapery they have
over the whole one side of the pyramid....then again, you had carrots
on your mind huh...

One thing I will say...Harvey made the Show for me...I'm not familiar
with the guy from MAD TV...I know 'Squiggy', but I will miss Harvey!
