Default Airport to Hotel

Are you a shuttle person, taxi person or limo person?

We usually take a taxi.

If i had a PILE of dough, it'd be a limo
If i had a lot of dough, it'd be taxi
But, i'm a budget fella--so its shuttle (one way ONLY)...THEN taxi back to the port.

To answer your question i prefer TAXI's.

When I go to Vegas I figure after spending $$$ on plane fare that I'm not going to waste fun time.
So it's Taxi to the hotel to save time.

I always take a cab...around 12-15 bucks total to the RIO
including tip. I got in on a Friday night once (NEVER AGAIN)...
cab line filled the whole 'cattle line' and took at least 30min...
If it's ever backed up like that again, I'll just get a limo or
towncar and arrive in style for $35.

I take a shuttle because I don't want to be ripped off by a cabbie.

I got ripped off by 2 different shuttle companys on 2 different trips. So that is why I take a taxi. I took the shuttle for years with no problems. I'll never take the shuttle again. My last trip the taxi tried to rip me off but I caught him before I paid. However with the shuttle rip off I had pre-paid.

Taxis are still the quickest, and you are (or should be) in control.
Give 'em your destination, tell them NO TUNNEL, and you should be fine.

Many folks are intimidated by what the driver might say in re. to their
choice...stick to you guns, and know your best route options. Most drivers
are good and some are even lots of fun...

You can always get advice here before a trip in re. to best route and
average price from other folks...don't be affraid NOT TO PAY if you
KNOW you've been long hauled! Asking for a recipt and jotting down
their cab number and name is alway good insurance if you think you
have a problem. Drivers are not allowed to long haul you and can loose
their license if you turn them in. Get your recipt and info, tell them you
will check with the Taxi Cab Athority and confirm your ride was a correct
one. Twice it's happened to me, and twice I called them on it and paid only
what I knew was the correct fare.
ALSO...make sure they re-set the meter. If they try and give you some line like...."OK if we just start the meter from here?", ask them to please
re-set their meter. A meter should start at $3.20

wow greg--u mentioned some stuff i didnt even know about.

I'll admit - myself, i'm sort of the type of person that wont speakup if i think ive been long hauled. I'll just reduce the tip GREATLY.

It's like that time i went from Mandy Bay to Orleans & the cab fare was like 16 or 17.... i knew we took some streets that shouldnt have. Driver got a tip of about 20 cents.

Long hauled! That is what happened to me. I couldn't think of what it was called. So I paid him what I normally would pay for the trip. He was more than happy to take anything after I caught him. He started out trying to give me some cock and bull story but I wasn't buying it.

heya De ... that's the thing.

In life i like things that are PRE-PAY.

I own a celphone, bought it at walmart for $18... i just load minutes into it every couple of months. Prepay!! (no credit check, no bills, no suprises, no FCC taxes, no switch-a-roo-zee). Hmm, is switch-a-roo-zee a word?

Anyhow - i know cabs are almost always THE FASTEST. I just dont like getting taken for. With a shuttle bus, it doesnt matter if there's traffic, if the driver takes 17 different streets, etc, etc, etc. I payed my $4.75 & i'll get there in one piece.
