Default Taxi Question

I need some help from you experts. I'll be in Vegas two weeks from Saturday. Since weekend rates on the Strip are so high, I'm staying at the South Coast for the first night. This will be my first time staying off the Strip. Then on Sunday, I will move to Aladdin for a few nights, then Bally's. I do not get a rental car while in Vegas because I'm not comfortable driving in that traffic. So, I guess I'll have to take a taxi from the South Coast to Aladdin on Sunday. I'm a little worried that I'll be taken the long way. What should I say to the cabbie, should I tell him the route to take, or trust him to go the quickest, shortest way?

I was there last week... i cant think of too many ways he (or she) may take other than the strip itself. There isnt an I-15 on ramp near the SC i can remember. Traffic can get downright sluggish.

You could SAVE YOUR room key from when you check out of the SC and on your way to the aladdin........... but the shuttles dont allow luggag onboard. Doh !!!!!!

Hmm, let me think.

Straight up LV blvd is pretty much it. I can't see it being more than, say, a $15 trip.

I'd agree with Al...just time your check-out and drive up
Las Vegas Blvd AFTER the morning traffic lets up...that's
about all you can do. There aren't 'long-haul' routes the
driver could take so I wouldn't worry about getting ripped
off...I have no idea of the fare...at least twenty bucks I'd bet.

Doc Al... i'll take the 'over' of your $15 estimation.

I'm thinking around $24.80 for the cabfare.

reckon i did Greg....

even with light (or lite) traffic... you're lookin at a min of twenty clams... i mean it wont kill ya to spend the twenty... but if you're like me who's budget minded, it's a doozy.

Wow, more than I expected, you probably said the same thing, lol. Looked at the map, took a guess. Back in December I drove (roughly) that stretch, hoping to bump into it, but I think I got on LV Blvd just north of it, heading northbound. Did take a while to get to "the strip", so I guess I can see it.

mary your welcome... trust me... i'm not 'hoping' you get a high fare for your cab ride.. just trying to be realistic. Traffic approaching sunset can also get snarled.

Not to worry too much,,,, because i am predicting you will win $400 on a triple 7 machine that morning while playing quarters!!!
