Default taxis

What can I expect to pay for a taxi from the airport to downtown? I don't want to get ripped off by having the driver take me all over town. I have been to Vegas enough so that I would know if we are going in the wrong direction, but I don't know exactly how to get there. Thanks

Should be in the neighborhood of $20-25. Up to you how you want to go, via the freeway (should see casino/hotels off to your right the whole way) or up Paradise, which turns into Main st. (my preferred route).

I echo what Doc Al says ... But, i will say the freeway would probably be the fastest ... not sure how it would compare cost-wise with Paradise Rd.

What about taxis from Airport - We are coming in November - 6 of us and wondering about limo's being cheaper. We are all going to same hotel and looked on line found some limo's for $50 an hour from airport.

I don't see how limo works out cheaper to strip or downtown, but it's not a bad option with a group. Don't have them wait for you at the airport though, call them when you land or when you get to baggage carousel.

I'd go for the limo ... i believe there's a local law here on Taxis:

Max of 4 passengers.

Heck, with the limo, they'll take you to the WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS sign. Stop off @ a liquor shop/drug store/whatever you need/etc... and you'll still have a good 20 minutes leftover. Splurge!!!

Maybe some cars will only take 4, but legal limit in cabs is 5.

4 passengers plus 1 driver equals 5. With 6 people, you would need 2 cabs but I would pay a little extra and take the limo.

According to the Taxicab Authority, it's 5 pass + 1 driver max (6 total):

Quote:
NRS 706.8816 “Taxicab” defined.

1. “Taxicab” means a motor vehicle or vehicles which is designed or constructed to accommodate and transport not more than six passengers, including the driver,
But unless you got a minivan taxi, 5 would be pretty uncomfortable I'd think.
