Default misterKeno -- sept 24,06 -- update

Hello all of you. Hope all of you have had mild weather & an easy-going week!

Once again... here's a rundown of my week... covering

fun, gaming, eating, work, etc, blah blah

oh--wait--arent GAMING AND FUN the same category?

Gosh, i can parlay eating into that also. Well, no perhaps not.

My week was pretty quiet actually. I'm feeling better than before... but not yet back to 100% physically. Thusly, i kept things pretty mellow & did my shifts at work & got a good amount of rest thruout the week. I think i slept on average 8 to 9 hours each night (if not 10).

Work had one hectic day.. the rest of the days were fairly simple days. Worked 10, 10, 9, 8, 8 "hours" from Tues-->Satur.

It's now Sunday (and my weekend has begun). Work is slightly strange, as it seems there's a higher frequency of the SPIN of the revolving door... To be more clear, the temp employees just dont seem to work out, or they get bored with the job, or they're goofoffs. I think we got a buckaroo in there once again. Oh well, i try not to let it bother me. Myself, i'm still in Temp status... but at least i take some pride in a work ethic. Okay enough of that stuff.

My vehicle was repaired with a shiny new bumper. Matter of fact -- it only took them 48 hours. Not bad.. plus i let insurance company (other partys') do the repairs instead of me choosing where i wanted to go. This is allowed by law here. Well, they gave me a new dodge truck with zero miles on the odometer -- it was a 'sigh' when i had to give it back. LOL!!!!

My gaming for the week included only a couple of sports bets (see other post), and then a bit of dice scattered thru out town. Friday afternoon i took my paycheck over to the GOLD COAST for cashing it. Mind you, this may be the last time i cash my check at a casino on account of i finally have my banking situation set up..... as well as a Direct Deposit in route. But, the GOLD COAST gives ya drink coupons, so it isnt bad.

Well, i should say they give you these red slot tokens for a SPECIFIC machine that's next to the cage. Drop in your token & a video wheel spins... you get either FREE DINNER @ the steakhouse, 10,000 slot points, free drink, $50, some other stuff. But i always get the drink coupons. Oh well, no big deal.

The line @ the cage was 18 people long, but eventually moved. I only took $40 to the dice table & pocketed the rest. After 40 minutes i was up to around $320.... 6 minutes later i colored up for $301 & went home. Not bad. I was happy about this, because, my paycheck was a tad smaller than usual (this due to my illness & MISSED work previously).

Of note, the GOLD COAST has a $3 craps game going 24/7. Matter of fact-- when it gets busy -- and all 4 tables are going. They still keep 3 of the 4 tables @ $3. A nice touch. The DOUBLE odds arent the best, but i seem to do alright there.

Saturday, i finished my week out & headed to the GOLD COAST straight from work. I milled about for about a half an hour... did no gambling other than some 9/6 vp... lost about $7.

Oh, i drove down Tropicana on thursday (i think it was). I wanted to see the hole in the chain link fence where a private plane ROLLED THRU and stopped ON Tropicana Ave. I saw the hole on my way to work in the morning -- oh and the private plane too !!! LOL. Gosh, what excitement. Oh, and yesterday... a part of the Venetian caught fire in St Mark's Square... some mega-sized banner was too close to a light structure & was ablaze (spell?). I didnt see that -- just watched home video on the news.

Didnt go bowling today--but i may go tomorrow as it's monday. I need to get in for an oil-change. Well, not ME... my automobile!

Today (sunday) i slept especially well -- nearly 9 hrs of sleep. Headed over to FIESTA HENDERSON. I've gotta say - they're paralleled with the COAST properties for friendly dealers & staff. The STATIONS casinos are a real turn off (especially their sports-book writers @ Various locations). Annnnnyhoo.... i was at FIESTA HENDERSON & got my baseball wager & headed to the dice table. It was choppy at first, but i made a $160 profit in about 40 minutes. Not a bad way to start your sunday.

The weather has been especially nice here in LV... friday was the CLEAREST day out.. you could see Mt. Charleston (as well as any surrounding mountains very clearly). Plus the wind has died down. I think we'll be in the 80's for a good portion of the upcoming week. I was tempted to head over to the Strat for some rides, but never did.

From FIESTA HENDERSON... i drove up the 95 and got off @ the Downtown exit & found a parking space in a pay-garage near the GOLDEN NUGGET. It's been a very long time since i drove in a personal vehicle to downtown, so i dont really know who has free self park. I'll admit i'm a fan of self park... this parlayed with the fact that i keep a slightly cluttered automobile with music cd's & such (well you know). Walked into the GOLDEN NUGGET. Folks, there is a ton of construction going on this one corridor of the place. Luckily it's blocked by glass panels. Well, let me re-phrase... it's construction outside. There's little signs saying "pardon the dust, we're adding exciting gaming & Landry's eaterie" or something of the sort.

I think i realize now why i dont go DOWNTOWN that much... the tables & machines are crammed in there really well. Not, a major headache... but just enough to the point where you need to jostle your way thru the casino floor. Other than that, the vibe was pretty good. I did dice @ the GOLDEN NUGGET & got crushed very very quickly. The tables were $10 min & the odds had a structure i've never seen before:

6x,8x,10x

Trust me--i didnt have enough dough on me to back up my flat-line wager with that amount of odds.

I walked down as far as the 4 queens & then back up the other side. I know Fremont street goes further, but i just wanted to do a few walk thru's. And, that i did, including the FREMONT HOTEL/CASINO. I took a look @ their buffet... quite smallish, and all the warming bins were lit up by some kind of a red spotlight............so.........you........sort of had to guess if something was scrambled eggs.......or...not? LOL. I wasnt especially hungry.. so, like i said, just did my walk-thru. I think it was $11 for sunday brunch. I went into Fitzgeralds, and one more place. I cant remember it's name.

Gosh, i cant remember the name of a couple of the places.... but i was in the place that had the

99-cent shrimp cocktail

and the place that had the

99-cent frozen daquiri.

You folks will have to tell me the names of these joints. Oh, and i walked thru the place that had the deep fried twinkie.... gosh those looked bad, lol.

My only other gambling was $4 worth of VP @ the MAIN STREET STATION... this casino was quite crowded. One thing that i'll point out... the smoke level is increased downtown. But the MSS, and the GN do a pretty good job of keeping it clean for your lungs. MSS had full pay VP. GN had 8/5 vp (even at the $1 level). Gosh, GN, that's rough dont ya think? MSS had 3/2 BJ... and it looked to be like a lot of double decks. There may have been single decks, but i wasnt scouting them out. Just took glances. Oh, the MSS had generous 20x @ their Dice Tables. With two of them open.. you COULD NOT get an elbow in. PACKED to the gills i guess i would say.

I did eat my lunch downtown.. this was at the TRIPLE 7 BREW-PUB (at the MSS). What a great little gem this is. The seating is along a large bar OR regular seating on the main floor OR along a mini oyster bar (that is WITHIN the Triple 7). I was a bit suprised that the place was only 1/4 full. Considering it was football season & this was a sunday & they have a BOUNTY of flat screens t.v. thruout the place. Anyhow, i was seated quickly and opted for a bowl of Sirloin Chili, and also an order of Garlic Fries. Have to tell you.. i'm a lover of Garlic Fries (and have not had them since leaving calif). The TRIPLE 7 did them just right.. a generous basket of them. And, the chili -- well it was damn good. There were chunks of sirloin steak in it..very filling & hearty. I took my time & watched the beginning of an afternoon football game & chowed down. The service was quick & friendly. I left there quite full... and at least 1/3 of that chili bowl i just could nooooot finish off!

For $10.50, i was very pleased. I WILL return to this clever little place. They had this thing called a 'sampler' for beer drinkers. Sounds like a neat thing... for like only $8 or so ... you get 5 or 6 tastings of their in-house brew. I'm not a beer drinker at all---but i saw them being served throut.

Back to my car & out of the parking garage $4 (for two hours). Headed back home....... and, well here i am. He he he he.

I guess i'll wrap up this post like my others... i've got laundry to do & etc, etc, etc. Tomorrow is monday - so i'm thinking of some bowling, oil change, and maybe some picture taking here N there.

Hope all is well with you kind folks.

Hey there!, it sounds like you're getting a routine down...cool.
You're right about the job situation...slackers come and go, you
do what you got to do...hang in, graduate from the temp and
move on to perhaps some more responsibility (and money?)
...glad you bumper got fixed, watch out for the crazies!

Nice little update. Glad you got your truck back, that's one headache over with.

Tim and Tom put the 6x8x10x odds in at the GN. Not quite the 10x of the El Co or the 20x of MSS, but better than the strips 3x4x5x. Not that I ever have that much moola on the table. I generally loathe the gaming at GN. Bad odds and/or high limits.

Place with the shrimp - Golden Gate. Looong craps tables, usually a $3 table, not a lotta room, and a little smokey. Great ambiance when the piano player is going.

place with the twinkie - Mermaids - I only go in there for the occasional dollar dog and the even more occasional frozen slushy drink.

The actual Fremont buffet is reputedly a decent buy, as buffets go. Were you looking at the "Lanai Express", the little counter area with a few tables? I've eaten there, it's not at all a pretty experience. I don't have any personal experience with the real Fremont buffet tho.

Other good eats downtown - Bay City Diner in the front of the Gate - good lunch plate specials. Also Market St Cafe in the Cal, decent $7 prime rib plate plus some hawaiian specialties.

I guess you can tell where I spend my time in LV. LOL.

heya al... yeah i did (also) see the Lanai Express... a lot of bowls of some kind of gosh knows what. Looked like fish stew. Not my cup of tea!!! Seemed that each of the little clubs along Fremont had a snack bar of sorts.

Yesssss, mermaids, that was the one. Very loud music to boot. The waitresses were dressed in something just short of a bikini. They had the little 99-cent (like i said) cups of daquiri, or the hourlglass plastic 'yards' of daquiri if you wanted it. I got neither... this was due to only one gal keeping up with the line of people. Otherwise, i'm sure the booze is 'so so'.... but oh well.

Yeah... downtown has a lot to offer. I even noticed some gift shops that didnt look like 'trashy' $2 t-shirts and 17 postcards for a $1, etc. Some, actually nice ones... i.e. they had one with native american art. Kind of a nice change. The GN is still the 'gem' down there like i talked about... but even in there - you have to struggle to make it thru an aisle of machines being played.

mK

Al... have you stayed at most of the hotels ?

I've stayed at:
Plaza
Vegas Club
Golden Gate
Golden Nugget
Fitzgeralds
El Cortez

I've yet to stay in a Boyd place. Haven't stayed at:
Cal
MSS
Fremont
4 Queens
Binions
Gold Spike (not likely)
Fremont (really, really, really not likely)

I know that Native American place, there's some nifty silver jewelry in there.

you certainly have the DT in your blood... way to go !!

yea, a couple of the hotels you mentioned.... i .... would .... be...

Hesitant !! lol

Speaking of DT... i was there 2 hours ago. Made a return trip to the Triple 7 Brewpub (@ the MSS). Did a caesar salad & those great garlic fries. The place was very crowded!!!! We're talking about a tues evening @ 815pm. It gave me an opportunity to see some of the other dishes being trotted by my table. The brick oven pizzas look like a winner. The nachos look like mount everest, he he he he. Anyhow, i watched a fight on the LCD screens... some "contender" boxing match.

Of note, the 'mega' 29 foot crap tables @ the MSS were PACKED!!!! We're talking elbow to elbow in there. Couldnt get in if my life depended on it. I settled for two hands of $5 single deck BJ. It's a 6/5 game @ the MSS........ well it didnt matter. The dealers up-card was an "ACE" on each of her hands. *sigh* Guess you know what the result (s) were.
