Default HAIRSPRAY/Luxor

The Las Vegas 90min. Broadway BIG, FAT, musical comedy was lots of fun.
Musical theatre and I go way back...there's just something about LIVE theatre that's so refreshing, exciting, and completely different from all the other scripted Shows in Vegas.

Just like dancers...actors LOVE their work. You can see it in their faces the molment they hit the stage. Each second, each scene, it's up to each actor to grab your attention, hold it and entertain you...the cast of HAIRSPRAY
does exactly that. They're just getting started, the energy is high and
everyone is so happy to be workig in a hit production.
The presence of Susan Anton, Dick Latessa, and HARVEY FIERSTEIN has
got to be ONE BIG MOTIVATING THRILL and it showed.

Most folks it seemed, were there to see Harvey. As soon as 'Edna Turnblad'
turns around from her ironingboard and 'speaks'...the audience goes nuts!
He/She HAS YOUR ATTENTION!

The story line is simple and easy to follow. The variety of charactor personalities are there...there aren't really any goodguys/badguys, its more
racially inocent/aware...versus, predigest/ignorance.

The music is all LIVE, which is another thing I love about live theatre. The
sets and costumes are fun and colorful and hold your attention, but nothing
in the Show is a....WOW!

Folks on these boards seem to need to compare Shows...one against another,
which is the best, is it worth the money...the later being the hardest question
to answer.
As a musical, I liked MAMMA MIA and AVENUE 'Q' better. For any of these stage productions, sitting close to the stage and being able to see the actors faces is a real pluss to the fun. I was 4th Row/Center on the isle.

Harvey and Dick move on April 30th. Latessa's replacement for his charactor
'Wilbur Turnblad' is said to be.....?what's his name?.....the actor who played
'Squiggy' in Levern & Shirley. No word on Harvey's replacement but it better
be someone special to keep the Show selling tickets.
HAIRSPRAY IS LOTS OF FUN! and a very good evening of entertainment...
...as long as Harvey is there. After that, we'll have to wait and see.
