Default Family Jazz

Hello everyone,am a newbie on this board (and to posting really).
Wonder if anyone knows where I can take my saxophone/jazz mad 15yr old son to watch some live stuff. We saw the fantastic Carl Ferris in Fremont Street last trip (and will be seeing him again this time). We listen to SmoothJazz 105.7 online (www.smoothjazz1057.com) and they advertise sunday brunch at Gorden Biersch. Sounds good, but what the heck is Gorden Biersch? I looked online but it seemed like a pick-up joint to me! not familiar with the US alcohol laws and whether children/minors are allowed in pubs/bars/restaurants etc.
OK,here is my criteria to make this search harder!!
1) needs to be not more than a cab ride from strip or downtown (as we are staying both locations).
2) preferably somewhere where we can 'seat an eat'.
3) no high-roller prices!

Got more questions but this post is probably too long already!

Gordon Biersch is a "brewpub", a restaurant/bar that serves beer brewed on the premises. shouldn't be any problem with you and your son can getting a table and eat brunch while listening. It is a short cab ride off the strip, directly east from Caesars on Flamingo Rd, then a little bit north on Paradise. Maybe a $10 cab ride, if that.

UNLV is over in that direction, and they sponsor a jazz society:

Just looking over their calendar, they have a lot of not-in-a-bar performances.

Gordon Biersch is one of my customers...they also have
an outlet here in the Bay Area and ship their beer to Hawaii
every week...I've seen their location in Vegas, driven past,
never stopped. Their restaurant in Las Vegas looks nice on
their site...call 'em, get all the details 1.702.312.5247
