SCINTAS NEW HOME/SHOW

Well, new home YES/new Show...NOT REALLY.

The SCINTAS have finally made it to the Strip, but I bet they
wish they were back at their good 'ol RIO.
Their new/old Sahara Showroom is much larger than their
RIO room...real Left, Right, and Center sections and a full stage.

The elevated back area of the stage, seats their 3 piece band
with 2 staircases leading to the stage floor.
INTRODUCTION, they wave, come down the stairs, sing their
signature theme "We Are Fam-i-ly"...end of 'New Show' part one...
...(the stairs that is)

The piano is still to the Right, Peter is on his drum riser in the center,
Frank, Joe, and Chrissi work the same areas they always have.
Without the 'catwalk', they rely on the audiences energy to come to
them, rather than have it all around them like it was in SCINTA SHOWROOM.
They do come down into the audience a couple times, but it's hard to see
them off the stage unless you're right down front.

The front curtain comes down for Chrissi's solo number...a rainbow of lighting
effects are projected on them as she sings...end of 'New Show' part two...
(the lighting that is)

There are a few 'new' topical references tossed in throughout the Show, but
not really any new material.
All the impressions are still there, but 'Mom' wasn't...

I was there on a Tuesday night and the large Theatre wasn't even 1/4 full.
The Ushers moved everyone down front and center just before showtime.
Professionals that they are, the SCINTAS worked the crowd just as if it
were a full house, and the folks that were there had a great time!

Time will tell for that area of the Strip and the SCINTAS.
The Sahara is an old, tired property. The Stardust is coming down,
TRUMP, the Frontier, along with other new developments are going up,
but the Sahara needs to get people to their end of the Strip to see the Show.

Origionally brought in as entertainment for RIO's Diamond members,
the SCINTAS no longer fill up their Show with comps and 2for1's.
Their Show just opened, but no body knows they're home!

Thanks for the report. I saw the Scintas when they were at the Rio and enjoyed their show. But, I won't pay those prices to see them again.
