Default PHANTOM, The Las Vegas Spectacular

(I have never seen Phantom of The Opera)

The Theatre and sets were just stunning!, absolutely wonderful!
The live orchestra and sound mix were great!

In the 'dark' of the Theatre, the piro techniques can catch your
eyes by surprise...they're quite bright!, but are no different than
an indoor rock 'n roll concert and were really pretty low key stuff.

I had a 5th row/center balcony seat. From my perspective, the view
of the Theatre was very appropreate. I could see EVERYTHING!
Great view of the Chandelier, the three tiered/right & left side balconies
filled with mannequins...all in period formal dress, the stage with all of it's
magic and stage sets...all surrounded in red velvet and gold guilt...very cool!

If you're on the floor, center to front, I would think it hard to witness all
the 'moves' of the Chandelier, let alone it's falling. It happens so quick, by
the time you know whats happening, it's crashed down just over your heads
and then pulled back up out of sight.
The lucky ones who know the story/seen the play before and know whats
coming...can only enjoy it and pray it stops before killing everyone!
It's a great scene, lots of fun, and I saw it ALL from the balcony...it was great!

I had hard core PHANOTM fans sitting all around me and they seemed to
fully enjoy the Las Vegas version. They're still working the bugs out of
the AC. It was bone-aching-freezing in the balcony! Three people left half
way through...one was a true fan sitting next to me who clapped so hard
after each scene I though she'd hurt her hands...but she got too cold and
had to leave.
On the way out, an usher asked how I liked the Show...I shook his hand and
he immediately had a good idea of what I thought...my hands were as cold
as ice. He said the other night, they couldn't get the AC to the balcony and
everyone roasted.

I loved the Theatre, sets, and all the spectical of the production BUT...
...the music and story bored me to death.

phantom of the opera---i've had chances to see that before in my life---but have never gone. Gosh, i've never even been to a broadway play/musical of any sort. Oh well.

Sounds like a winner greg. I can picture that jumbo chandalier that is referred to by so many (and the advertisements).

Glad you had fun Greg. I guess special effects is where IT'S AT !!! ??!?!

I love musical theater but I don't particularly care for opera. I've heard some of the music from Phantom so maybe I would enjoy it, but I probably wouldn't waste my time in Vegas seeing it. I'll just wait until the show comes to our local theater. Thanks for the review.
