Default The Long-Long Trip

The Long-Long Trip

This trip began Jan. 25 and ended Feb. 20. My sister in law Judy and I made our first gambling stop in Shorter, AL. this is about 20 miles east of Montgomery, AL. This was the first time for both of us to go there. Not much to see on the out side of the building, but very nice inside and huge. We didn’t have a lot of time to spend here as we were on our way to FL. We played several penny, nickel, and quarter machines. Didn’t win but didn’t get hurt to bad.

Arrived in Sebring, FL just in time for a cold front to hit….now this is not fair….lol.

We went to Immokalee, FL to the Seminole Casino there. After several hours of up and down play I finally cashed out $30 ahead. I didn’t have the luck here that I did the last time. They were putting in lots of new machines so about ¼ of the casino was tore up. I did play a new penny machine called Wild Sevens that was fun and profitable.

After a few days in FL six of us (all family) begin the long-long trip to Texas. First stop is Biloxi, MS. I don’t have to tell anyone here how heartbreaking to see the destruction of such a beautiful place. They are working so hard to clear the debris so they can repair and get open again. The people were just wonderful. They have so much spirit and determination. We played for a couple hours at the Isle. A few wins but did not leave with any of their money.

We went through New Orleans and it was very eerie to see mile after mile of houses and cars and no one there. They had the water damage but Biloxi had much more destruction, that I could see.

Next stop after 3 days of driving…was Alamo, Texas. Here we met up with my brother and sister in law. We now number eight…LOL We stayed at a very unique Bed and Breakfast there. Originally the building was the first office building, built in 1890 something. Now it is divided into suites, all with a theme. Very cool and the people were fantastic.

Many trips to see the sights and went to Mexico. Had to do the booze run twice…LOL Ate lots of Mexican food so I was happy. My one brother in law was ready to revolt if he had to stand in line to get his food or use plastic forks again….LOL So we made sure to go to a nice Mexican restaurant the next night.

Returned to Florida and after a few days of soaking up the warm sun we were off to Sarasota to the dog races. Now I won’t pretend to know much about picking dogs, but this day was ridiculous. Not one winner and on the last race the dog my brother in law had picked, didn’t even know there was a race. He just danced in circles down the track.

Left the beautiful warm weather of Florida and stopped in Warner Robins AFB, GA on Friday to see friends. Left on Sunday to head on home and hit snow in northern KY. We were using our head here as we thought, okay if we are going to get snowed in we’ll just make sure there is a casino nearby. We stopped in Metropolis, IL which is just north of of the Ky state line. Got a room and proceeded to Harrah’s casino. This is a boat, 3 floors lots of video machines. Very few VP and high limits on the tables. Had a lot of Hoovers here, they just cleaned house with you. So after a couple hours which translated to a $ per minute. We gave up and forged our way back to the motel.

Finally arrived home happy, tired and very glad to have had the adventure, all 7500 miles of it!

Wow great report.

Too bad you hit the cold front. Sounds like you did get a couple nice days of warm weather.

I had a couple friends that just got back from New Orleans, and they still say it is unreal the amount of debris and destruction, and it has been over 6 months.

Very sad
