I survived my Vegas Trip! I would say this was the best trip ever. Not because of any big win. Actually I didn't gamble much. I spent just a couple hundred on gambling and lost it all. It was fun being with friends and having a lot of laughs together. As I feared dh wasn't able to go with us. Which created some problems with the flight. As he had the Asle seat I wanted. On the return they cancelled my friend Linda's seat because somehow she was connected to my dh. Who new? With that being said I won't go into a lot of details just the highlights and comments on the hotels. Travelers: My best friend Linda, which is why we went to Vegas, was to celebrate her birthday which was in July, dil Lana and me. We arrived @ the LV airport ahead of time. No line at the cab stand. The Cabbie tried to "long haul" us. I didn't notice at first as we were all talking in the cab. I've heard of the "tunnel" but had never gone through it. So I questioned him as to why we were going the long way. He gave me some cock and bull story. I told him this was not the shortest route to our hotel. Long story short I refused to pay over $13. The meter read almost $20! Casino Royale was our first night stay. I chose this place because of price and being a small property. I was a little bit more than nervous about staying here. Arrived before 10:00 am. No line at check in and rooms were ready. I was pleasantly surprized! Rooms were very clean. Fresh paint and carpet. Smallish bathroom. Hair dryer, safe, fridge and coffee maker. Not only did they have packs of coffee which I don't drink but also tea which I do drink. I have never stayed at a hotel which had packs of tea. The fridge came in very handy for our cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory but also for pop, ice, ect. Cost $69. Most other hotels for that night was in the hundreds of $. I would absolutely stay here again. Next 2 nights we stayed at Harrahs. About 10:30 tried to check in but rooms weren't ready. Came back about noon and 1 room was ready so we took our luggage and put it all in 1 room. We had connecting rooms @ Harrahs. Rooms were about same size or slightly bigger as CR only bathrooms were larger. Had a good stay. Cost $60 per night. Last night we stayed at Tropicana. The only reason I booked here was because dh likes this place to gamble. We stayed in a Garden Room. I have stayed here before in the Tower and the Garden Room. Only this time the GR we got didn't have a balcony. The balcony to me was the main reason I like the GR. The room was not clean. I was very disappointed. Cost $29 I will not stay here again. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory which was good as always. Paris for breakfast which is the best breakfast in town. Also we had lunch at MSS downtown which was good. We ate a breakfast buffet @ Sahara's since we were there to ride the roller coaster. It was good. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. The one very disappointing meal was the Tropicana breakfast buffet. It was the smallest buffet I have ever eaten in Vegas and the food was not good. Everyone agreed it was awful and we will not return. First night we had a free line dance lesson @ Gilleys @ the Frontier. We were disappointed with Gilleys. It has changed since we first started hanging out there. We then went to "Toby Keiths I love This Bar". We were the only line dancers. They had some two-steppers. We had a good time. Margaritaville was also fun. Party time! Good drinks, a lot of singing and partying. They had a huge Margarita pitcher that a young lady dived into. A huge fishing hook brought her out of the pitcher. Very entertaining. We never managed to get there at night for the band. Harrahs Dueling Pianos was great. We paid the guys to sing "Like a Virgin" by Madonna. Seeing 2 guys singing "Like a Virgin" was a riot. The whole audience was roaring with laughter. Harrahs Carnival Court is where we hung out the most and had the most fun. I won't go into details other that to say.... there were some yard drinks involved and certain people getting locked out of there room in there pj's, someone falling down on the dance floor and another trying to use the restroom ended up in another casino besides the one they were in.LOL It was a good trip. Hurt my knee the last night and is still hurting. A little bit too much dancing coupled with all the walking just did me in. As I said best trip ever!!!!! |

Sounds like a good trip. Have only heard of a couple people staying at Casino Royale (not too long ago if you'd bet me they had rooms I'd have lost) but all reports have been that it's a decent place. Don't really like the casino, though - dollar beers and I'm out... |

We will be at Gold Coast for Nov 15 16 17 and would like to spend part of our stay on the strip. Would like some more info on Casino Royale. Looking for a place to stay on the strip for Nov18 19 20th. Would it be comforable for a three day stay? Husband will still be in recovery mode from his hip surgery, so would like some place where he can relax and be comfortable. Also thinking about Tropicana, but seems you had a bad room there this past trip. We have stayed there twice and always ended up with a decent room. Alot of the strip hotels that week are way high priced or just not available for the weekend. |

Yard drinks, pajama parties in the hallways, layin' around on the dance floors while folks are tryin' to dance, bathroom raids on neighboring properties.....................my, my, my...some people! SOUNDS GOOD TO ME! I'm glad you called that cabbie's game...it's only happened twice to me and you just can't let them get away with it...BLAST 'EM!!! Great trip, good TR, THANKS |

One of the big reasons I chose CR was because best friend has had knee surgery and is still having problems. It was no problem getting back and forth from the room since it is such a small property. Within a few feet inside the door on the southside is the door that leads to the elevator. Rooms are your average Holiday Inn type room. Depending on your own personal taste. The only reason I would not stay here for more than a day because they have no pool. If it was not pool season I would stay here again. As I said the rooms we had were very clean and having a fridge was a plus. The rooms we had a the Trop were such a hike. I think we got the garden rooms that were the furthest from the casino and were not clean at all. I was very disappointed with the Trop. I had talked with a lady down at the pool while at the Trop and she had them switch her room as it was bad. She commented that she stays at the Trop on most trips to Vegas and this was the worst ever. |

Greg, I had my girlfriend Linda call Harrahs pool bar last week to find out what was in our "Funky Monkey". We had 2 of these drinks each while at Harrahs pool. They were the best tasting drinks from our whole trip or maybe the best drinks ever! She had a hard time getting connected to the pool bar. First they connected her to the pool gift shop. Then some lady Linda didn't know who she was, then finally the pool bar. Although the person who answered the phone @ the pool bar didn't know and had to get a waitress. The ingredients were listed on the wall next to the pool bar! As I said best trip ever! |
