Default GREGRIO Sept. 3d-7th All RIO

I got in around 9am. Checked in at registration and got
my favorite room around noon.
There's really nothing special about this room...it's actually
a bit smaller than their average Standard suite...it's the two
full walls of floor to ceiling windows that makes it work for me!

Room service filled my refrigerator with carrot cake and milk,
weather was great, pool below was full of scenery and the
gaming was fare...$2,000.bankroll for cabs and gaming, played
all I wanted/when I wanted/brought $820.home.

Cab rides for me still average aprox. twelve bucks (including $3.tip)
each way give or take a buck or two, I used Harrah's shuttle a couple
times to go to the Strip, but cabed back (that shuttle can be a real zoo)
RIO to Ceasars is pretty slick...just over the Flamingo hump, it hangs
a left just before the Strip into Caesars new Tower...it's the Harrah's
destination that takes you on a tour through all the backside bowels of
the casinos until you finally end up at their backdoor/front door...
...it's such a tacky/tourist property!

The RIO stayed busy after the holiday crowd left with a Hawaiian themed
Slot Tournament. Still no Show in the Ronn Lucus/Scintas Showroom,
the Sportsbook is tatally up and running, the Poker Room has been glassed in now and seems to work real well, and 'Bikinis' is being turned
into a BOWLING ALLEY...no date when construction will be finished, but
the old 'Rosemary's' restaurant is still vacant...if they hurry, Harrah's
could put BINGO up there too and have one big event opening!
......poor RIO, the rooms are still some of the best, but bit by bit, Harrah's
continues to cheapen the rest. SUPER WHEEL OF FORTUNE is rumored to
be coming soon to their KENO area.......

I took in one of Bob Dancer's little seminars at the Silverton one day...
Quite entertaining, but just reinforced the fact I SHOULD NOT be playing
video poker! lol
(aww, what the hell does Bob know...damn propeller head) it WAS fun!

The session was begining/advanced 9/6 JOB. I mentioned to Bob before
'class' started there weren't any 9/6 quarter games at the Silverton...8/5.
For his classes (different games through the rest of the year), the casino
has placed 8 machines on the floor (together) which reflect the games and
pay scheduals that Bob prefrers for that day's class. I don't know if they
stay up until the following weeks 'new game' or if they shut them down at
the end of the day...I didn't stay and play afterwords.

McCarran was a breeze both coming and going, several new fast food
joints now open on the 'C' Gate' side.
Pretty uneventful trip, SOS but lots of fun!
JUBILEE, LOVE, CLINT HOLMES, LEGENDS IN CONCERT filled out the trip.
I put some 'repeat' Show thoughts over in Entertainment, next trip
December 3d thru 7th.

P.S THANK YOU MATTHEW! We hooked up Sunday afternoon, walked
around, talked shop, enjoyed the buffet...then I watched Matthew turn
his fifty bucks into ninety (real quick) at the Crap Table.

hiya greg....

Sounds (again) like you got in a lot during your stay. You really know how to work the town my friend.

I havent been in Caesars since i moved here... or at least i dont think. So, do they drop you off @ the Augustus Tower ( the new one ). I think that's what you meant, just wanted to be sure.

While i visited with Greg for a few hours.... he was irritated that their gift shop didnt have milk, lol. But, it's good news to learn that room service took care of him.

Greg... i was over at the GOLD COAST on wed nite... and i made it a priority to look at their gift shop. They've got the milk 'chugs' and they're only $1.

Well, glad you had a good trip!!!!!!!

Oh, i played 9/6 vp @ the GOLD COAST last nite (satur nite), and i did especially well. Worked $20 into $34 & printed my TITO. I pocketed the TITO and will return soon to play it out or cash it. The line was too long at the booth this time.

That's a REAL KEY in finding the 9/6 machines -- be sure the two pair pays 2 to 1 (and not 1 to 1). I definately noticed my credits lasting longer.

Good for you!, I thought you'd find a good JOB game over there.
I played very little video poker this trip. I needed some Total Reward
points to keep up my Platinum level for next year and slots earn more
than VP does...did OK on the slots this trip too!

Cash it. Don't they have those TITO cashout machines?

Excellent find on the Rio-Caesars run.

Bikini's --> Bowling??? Hot barely dressed dealer chicks replaced by ... bowlers? Although, sadly... I have more use for the bowling alley.

Not a bad Foxworthy impersonation Al...certainly
gives Danny Gans a run for his money! lol
Yeah, the shuttle to Caesars works pretty well. Most folks are
on the Harrah's shuttle and I didn't take the one to Bally's but
I would imagine it would be as bad as the Harrah's one.
The Caesars ride took all of 7min.
The Bowling thing is a real cheap shot on Harrah's part to me.
It will attract a crowd that would normally never go to the RIO
and I don't think a lot of it's revenue will be generated by guests.
I'm glad it's on the buffet side...........I like the other side.

Doc Al .. ya know that's a good point. They probably do have a cashout machine for those. I guess i just didnt look.

It's funny that you mentioned the carrot cake. While greg and i had the rio buffet........ i had a slice, it was REALLY good.

That's the special stuff they make when Greg's in town. Go back by yourself, bet it'll be dry and flavorless. LOL.

Thanks for the report, Greg. You always have such a good time. I think you are the only person I know who goes to Vegas to drink milk! Glad you got to have dinner with Matthew. I'm looking forward to my December trip and I am going to see LOVE!
