Superbowl Day #3

Saturday.. Day 3

Woke up pretty early. Anyone notice how hard it is to sleep in Vegas? I decided that today I needed to get back to mid-strip, even if I had to go alone. My one buddy’s dad was also in Vegas so he was heading to the Mirage to meet him. I decided I go get a cab with him, our other buddy wanted to go to so we all headed out. We ended up meeting his Dad at the Venetian instead of the Mirage. Just to inform everyone, the Venetian is my favorite place in Vegas. We met in the food court for a bite to eat; the pizza place was pretty good. Walk around a little while looking at the shops. My friend and his Dad decide to leave and my other buddy and I start to decide what to do. It is probably around 11 am, maybe noonish. We walk over to Harrah’s to play some poker; once we get there we weren’t really feeling it.

I recommend that we head back to the Venetian sports book to watch a couple games and relax. Venetian sports book is large for those who haven’t been there. Once we arrive I notice that one of my favorite boxers is fighting. His name is Zab Judah and he is fighting Corey Spinx. He is an underdog and also is a 6 to 1 to knock him out. I quickly bet on $20 for the knockout and $20 for the win. Right after making my bet the cocktail waitress comes by, I was telling my buddy I wasn’t going to drink till at least 3pm today. He ordered a beer and I ordered a bottle of water. Of course, when she came back with the water, I immediately ordered a beer. It was a Saturday so there were a ton of games and races on. What a great day in Vegas in the book! I start looking through the spreads to decide what other games to bet on. We start taking some small bets on the some of the horse races, but can’t chalk up any big wins. I was surprised at the quickness of the cocktail waitresses in the book. Like I said earlier, this is a large book and on Saturday, they have two cocktail waitresses the whole day. At first we were going to watch a few games, then walk the strip, then come back for the boxing match. But when my other buddy should up, he wanted to hang out in the book, so we just decided to watch games and drink.

Around 6:30 the first boxing match starts, my buddy and I put a bet on the underdog, but he ended up getting knocked out. I then having a good feeling about Zab, so I throw another $20 on him for the knockout right before the fight starts. A guy that was sitting behind us decides to throw $500 on the knockout. The fight begins and it is a going pretty well. It is about even; Zab might have been leading by a little. And in the 9th, it gets crazy; Zab starts landing some serious punches and knocks him out! It was great; my other buddy had the knockout too, so we were fired up. I cleared about $260 or so for that fight. I am starting to feel better after two days of straight loses.

We are starving and decided to hit a quick buffet. I have had the Harrah’s buffet before and it has crab legs, so that is what we picked. I think this might be the last time I will eat that buffet. The quality wasn’t that great. It might be that it was getting pretty late when we got there (9 pm), but overall I wasn’t too pleased. Also I wanted to add that our service was horrible, the guy didn’t refill my drink once.

After that, we cab it back to the Luxor; I don’t think eating the buffet was that good of an idea. Especially after drinking most of the day. I was too full! I had to lie down. All my buddies’ head to the casino, they come back up around 11:00 and try to wake me up, I tell them one more hour. It then hits about 12:00, I sit up and tell myself “there is no way, I am not going out tonight!” My food had digested a little, and I sobered up so it was time to get ready. I quickly get dressed and head down to the casino.

Find my buddies at the blackjack table. My favorite waitress is working and quickly brings me a huge drink, everyone was getting little glass glasses and she brings me a large plastic cup. It was great! And I wasn’t even playing at the time. I was there about 30 minutes we decide to head over the Mandalay Bay.

Get to the Bay and it is pretty crowded. The lowest table for blackjack is $25; I decide to pass due to my last two days of blackjack play. Two of my buddies play, while two of us just chill. The Mandalay Bay also gets thumbs up for the drink service; they had no problem serving us while we were watching our buddies play. Then the Mandalay Bay got interesting. It turned into a brothel! Yes, I said brothel. The middle bar in the Mandalay Bay (I think is called the Island bar) had about 45 working girls. I don’t think there was one girl there that was not working. You could tell just by sitting there for a few minutes and watching them approach the guys. I was amazed that the Mandalay allowed this to go on. But it might be good for business. It was funny at one point later on, when two girls were walking by our blackjack table and my buddy says something to them. They smile and keep walking, and then the dealer says, “Those girls are working!” The pit boss was standing there, and he starts laughing and says, “Yep, they are everywhere”. We hang out at the middle bar just to enjoy the scenery for a little while before heading back to the Luxor. We decided not to participate in the festivities. It is around 4 am so we head back.

I can’t remember if I played anything before heading to bed, but I am pretty sure we just called it a night. Tomorrow is Superbowl!

venetian--what a great place, yea all the stuff @ their food court looks darn good.....

venetian gambling n boxing---woooohooo !!! wtg on the KO Grant....

I had to laugh--there was nooo way you were going back out. You did the biggest sin of all (to me), drink heavy then eat---do a switcharoo, my friend.

So, your fav waitress brought you the exxon valdeez to slurp outta? Cool.

I know what you mean about the island bar, i was there.

Venetian is my favorite place to watch games.The waitresses are smokin and free booze as soon as you are soon.I was there during the fight watching basketball.I was over in the small area on the side.Won a few games that day.

Livin, that is funny. I might have seen you! I was in the first main section closest to your section. Second row from the back, there were four of us.

I had your cell number saved in my phone, but lost battery around 3 pm that day.

aint technology great...I barrowed a pen from a 'hot' cocktain waitress and wrote the phone number down on a wet napkin under my drink...still got it too

I stayed there once and they are everywhere.Came home one night late and saw a funny scene.An older oriental gentlemen trying to get one to his room.The funny part was hotel security stopped them and was asking about there relationship.They tried to say they were "old friends" but the stories they came up with how they met did not match.They also asked the other what the others name was which they could not answer.Mr Security was not buying.Hotels must think they are good for the high rollers because they are all over at the nice hotels. Grant looks like we hang out the same spots we will make better plans to meet up at next years Super Bowl
