Day 4.. Superbowl Sunday I woke up pretty early again, think it was around 9:30 or 10 am. It is Superbowl Sunday baby! I had a bunch of energy and I really felt like getting nice workout and steam room session at the Luxor spa but was convinced by my buddies that we needed to get our betting sheets for the game. We head to the Luxor sports book to get the prop sheets for the game. The Luxor sports book is pretty weak, for one they don’t have an electronic board, someone has to write all the spreads, etc. Secondly they never seem to have a huge selection of prop bets, pretty much the run of the mill bets. We grab the prop sheets and head over the Luxor Café for breakfast. We all start to look over the sheets, I was really tempted to take the Eagles with the points but I had a gut feeling the Patriots were going to win big. I made about 6 different bets, I had Brian Westbrook to score first, Troy Brown to score first, Patriots by 10 exact, Patriots by anything between 10-14, and then took a high paying under of 28, and a 5-team parlay. For all of you though bet a lot, I had some stupid bets, but this year I wasn’t as fired up about betting on the game. I bet big last year on the Panthers and took a whooping. After we eat and make our bets we feel like some blackjack, I have been getting destroyed all weekend in blackjack but I feel that maybe I can turn it around. We actually found a $5 table on Superbowl Sunday at the Luxor, but of course it was filled. We settle for $10 and begin to play. I buy in for a hundred and get a lot of play, I was up $100 at one point, down to my last ten and had to reach in the pocket to double down, then back to about even. Stood up even, and said I would probably would take a little break before the game started. My buddy said, “Just play a few more, deck is hot”. I sit back down and lose 8 straight hands, one with a split. Get up about 2 minutes later with 90 bucks less in my pocket. It is now around an hour or less before the game, we decided because we had a suite we might as well watch it up there. There wasn’t really anywhere that great to watch it in the Luxor. As you all probably heard, the NFL cracked down again this year on Superbowl parties. The Luxor’s last year was amazing! It was sad. As we get up to the room, I pack up my things before the game. I was flying the red-eye so I wanted to make sure I had everything ready early. At this point I haven’t drank any alcohol all day, we didn’t have any beer in the room so we quickly went to the gift shop and loaded up on the 24 ounce beers they had. They were overpriced, but it didn’t matter, this is the Superbowl we are talking about. Back up to the room and ready for kick off, quickly start ripping up my losing tickets, it seems like everyone in the room is ripping up tickets. It wasn’t a good game for any of us. We all were taking the Patriots with points or more. The beers are flowing nice. At halftime we head up to another friend of ours who also is having a party in the their suite. Grab a couple things to eat and a few beers and head back down for the remainder of the game. Pretty weak finish to a decent game. After the game is over we are all ready to gamble hard. This will be my last sessions so I have to make it count. This is the session I have been waiting on all trip. I haven’t played much roulette at all, especially at the Luxor. I actually just wanted to play a $5 on a few different numbers, but they dealer was rude and said I had to buy-in for at least $20. No problem, I thought I would just play $5 and then cash out the $15. I put $2 on the 5, $2 on the 12, and then a corner somewhere. Hits number 12, nice $70 payoff. I decide, I might try my luck and keep playing. I was hot, no big hits for about 10 spins but hitting at least a split or a corner on every spin. I was betting the min of $5 per spin. Then, I have feeling the 5 is about to hit again, so I played what I call the “target”. It is 1 chip on the 5, then one chip on every split around the five. (2-5, 4-5, 6-5, 8-5). Dealer spins, and BAM it hits! That pays off $103, (35 chips for the 5, and then 4 splits at 17 each). I also believe in repeats so I take those 5 chips and put them directly on the 5. The dealer was hitting around the 5 and 12 area almost every couple spins, so I also put a chip on the 8-5 split. (The 8 is right next to 12 on the wheel). What do you know, the 5 hit again! This time the payment was a little better $192. I stack more on the 5, but it didn’t hit the third time. I am not sure what number it hit, but the next spin after that I had 1 chip on the 5, 3 chips on the 12. BAM, the 12 hits, pay off was $105. This table is hot, and is perfect for my numbers. I am downing my beers as fast as the cocktail waitress can bring. Has anyone noticed how fast the time goes by when you are winning?? After, a few more spins I am up around $450 for the session. My buddy and I were actually on the way to the Pai Gow table when I wanted to play some roulette; he actually waited with me for about an hour or more while I was on fire. He convinces me to leave the table for Pai Gow, our other buddy stayed. I don’t know why I left such a hot table; must have been the beers, which are now really starting to catch up on me. We head over to the Pai Gow table, play a few hands, it is slow and boring, this time. All I can think about is roulette. I am not getting the cards, lose a couple in a row, and decide I need to get back to the roulette table. I only have about 45 minutes before I need to get to the airport. Buy back in for $50, lost about 5-8 spins in a row, the same dealers is working and is hitting the same area, but I just wasn’t hitting the right area at the right time. With about 15 minutes left, I get hot again. It all started with “targeting” the 5, that hit to get me going, and in the next 10 minutes, I hit the 22, 12, 32 straight up, and the a couple splits. I am up about $150 or more small session, and I am start to tell my buddy that I am going to try to get bumped. Play a few more, and realize I need to get to the cashier and get to the airport. Get up the room, and I am moving fast. I thought I was cutting it way close. Get back to the casino and tell everyone bye and hopefully they would see me in 45 minutes or so. (If I got bumped). Go to the cashier; cash in my blacks (first time all trip), greens, and reds. Total comes to around up $585 or something. Not bad for a final roulette session! We get outside it is almost 11 pm, flight leaves at 11:50 pm, no line for a cab and we get the airport quick. Delta Song curbside was quick, I am not nervous now; I know I will get on the flight. I stop at a sausage place on the way, cause I am drunk and hungry. Get the gate and they are just about to start boarding, I ask the attendant if I can get bumped. She apologized and said they were not bumping on this flight. By that time, I was thinking it was better that I take my last winning session and get out of Vegas. I get on the plane, get into my seat, and pass out before we even take off. Don’t remember taking off or anything; wake up when we are about to land in Orlando. Felt like 5 minutes. I wasn’t as hung over as I thought but was very unproductive at work on Monday! When I got back in Orlando, I wanted to see where I stood on the trip. I counted my money and realized the trip cost me $8 plus airfare! I really never factor in the airfare unless I win big. So after being down close to $600, I rebounded big time. I was hyped up; I wanted to go back immediately. I guess that is what Vegas will do to you. Quick recap: Great trip overall, was a little upset about the Luxor Superbowl party getting cancelled, but we still had a great time. Didn’t get to play as much poker as I wanted, just kept getting side tracked. Still rank the Venetian as my favorite resort. Didn’t make it downtown this trip either, need to get back down their next trip. Can’t wait till my next trip! Any questions please let me know. |
