Trip Report - NYNY 7-20 to 7-22
Sunday, July 24th, 2005This was my 5th visit to Vegas since 2001. I’ve been reading posts here for the past three weeks and thought I’d share my brief visit.
- Asked for no tunnel for taxi. No hassle from the drivers on both trips.
- Stayed at NYNY. I had two free weekday nights. Thought I’d try the $20 trick to upgrade to a spa room. I held a $20 while asking if it was possible for a free spa upgrade. The guy said he could give me an upgrade for $40 more a night. I guess it did not work but I took the upgrade and kept the $20. (Well worth it.)
- Had a $500 gambling budget. Started by playing JOB VP. Only a few full pay machines there at the $1 (five play) level. Was up $200 in no time and took a break.
- Played some Let It Ride to mix things up. Got the wife hooked on the game. Getting dealt three of a kind twice in her first 10 hands helped.
- Walked to In and Out burger across the highway in 110 degree heat. Took about 15 minutes. It was interesting. My forehead just beaded up with water while outside. Bought an In and Out grilling apron and some antenna thing-a-ma-bobs.
- Not much traveling outside NYNY except for Kripsy Kreme at Excallibar and seeing the water fountains at night at Belagio. Has anyone seen the chocolate fountains inside Belagio? Amazing.
- Could not totally figure out the comps system at NYNY. Last time there I was comped a few meals. (I was not lodging there that trip.) This time I only got cash back comps. Did they count my free room as part of my comps already? I was up at VP but down at Let it Ride. Did they just look at VP? (I gave my card while playing Let it Ride.)
- Speaking of cash backs I had a double cash back coupon. It was good if I took the money in slots freeplay. I had a total of $62. I put in $65 in the JOB and planned to play 13 $5 hands to collect the free play money. Third to last hand I hit a four of a kind. Walked away with $202 when all done.
- The early Let it Ride wins turned into loses on the morning we were going to leave. I figure we broke even if you include the room, cashback, and $20 dining coupon at the Nine Fine Irishmen.
- Returning back in September for a company meeting. Looking forward to it.
